I’m Lucy. I’m 24, from Auckland and I am very excited to be representing  New Zealand at the Miss World 2019 competition.
In 2016 I graduated with a Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Communications Studies from AUT University. I was so eager to get into the workforce and pursue my career that I took extra papers every semester (making sure I maintained high grades to retain my academic scholarship) and never took a summer off, completing a five-year qualification in three years.
While studying, I was fortunate enough to get my first foot in the door of the corporate world working for Air New Zealand. Following that, I spent two years working for Les Mills International, in a Digital Marketing role. I then took the next step in my career by shifting companies and working in the Global team at Icebreaker. I now work for an amazing New Zealand Creative Agency, Motion Sickness, as a Senior Creative Strategist.
I’m a big fan of doing things that scare you a little. I’ve found that it quickly forces you to work on parts of yourself to become stronger, more agile and more resilient. It also helps to build confidence. The biggest benefit of building confidence and self-approval is that it gives you more to draw from and share with other people too.
This year I’m working with Jessica Wu from Jessica Couture. I went to see her fashion show a few months ago and I just fell in love with her dresses. She knows how to design for a woman’s body and I am very excited to be wearing her designs at the Miss World 2019.
